Rodents are a very creepy pest that will leave waste and chew through anything in your home to get what it needs to survive. They'll chew through walls, doors, plastic, and just about anything else to get what they are looking for. A rodent infestation is one thing you don't want to have to deal with, as this could mean that you have a lot of rodents running through your home. You may hear them scurrying in the middle of the night, or you may have spotted them during the day in a cabinet or running across the floor in front of you in plain view. If you have an infestation, your job just got a lot harder to get rid of these pests. Read on for some tips to help you get rid of them.

Leave Your Home

If the infestation is too bad, you may be better off leaving your house for a little while until you can get control of the situation. These pests leave feces everywhere, and it may be a health hazard for you to be in the house while they are there. Stay somewhere else, but you should still do some exterminating in the meantime to get rid of your pest problem. Don't just leave your home and expect the mice to go away on their own, that isn't going to happen; you still have to put in the work.

Remove All Food

Remove all of the food from your pantry, countertops, and any other type of food source mice could be feeding off of. There's a good chance that the mice are eating or have been eating the food in your pantry, so it's best just to toss it all. You aren't going to want to eat any of the food that is in your home if you've been sharing with the mice. Remove all food, and toss it in the trash.

Set Traps

Give mice food in traps instead of the food in your pantry, or set out poisonous baits throughout your home. Check the traps daily and look around your home for dead mice that have eaten the poison. If you have dead mice, remove them from the house. Continue to set and reset the traps around your home until you no longer have any mice in your home.
