Stink bugs are a pest that can come into your home very easily given their flat bodies. These pests get their names from the fact that they give off a foul odor if you smash them. This is why smashing these pests is not a good idea to do to get rid of them. To help you get rid of these pests and prevent them from invading your home, there are a number of things you can do. Read on for some helpful tips that you can use.

Seal Your Home

Seal your home tightly against these pests. They can easily get into any space due to their flattened bodies. If you have these pests in your home, then you have an opening somewhere that they are using to get inside your home. You need to seal your home by caulking around windows and doors, filling in minor holes and cracks along your home's foundation, and replacing the door and window seals that may be cracked, missing, or dry rotted. These seals should seal against weather and pests, so if it is missing or broken/cracked, it can allow these things inside, including pests such as stink bugs.

Spray Your Home

Spray your home to get rid of these pests by spraying a pesticide along your home's foundation and around the exterior perimeter of your home. You can also spray around your windows and doors to prevent these or other pests. Be sure the pesticide you are using will get rid of stink bugs, so read through the manufacturer's instructions to see what pests it can help to kill or prevent in your home.

Capture These Pests

Rather than smash these pests, you need to capture them with a tissue, or even with your own hand, and either flush it down the toilet or remove it from your home. These pests do not bite or cause any harm at all. If you aren't thrilled with the idea of capturing them with your bare hand, use a tissue and either dispose of it or set it free outside of your home.

If you have stink bugs around your home, they are coming into your home for warmth to survive the winter months. These pests can survive in your home throughout the winter months as long as they are staying warm. If you are spotting these pests in your home, they are getting in through either an open door or window or some crack or crevice that you need to repair around your home. Hire a pest control company to help you get rid of these pests or any other pests that you may have in your home that are causing you trouble.
